ArteBA Style: ARTY MOOD

This year, my attendance at the opening of ArteBA -the most important art fair in the country- was hopelessly a hurry visit. Thus, an overwhelming maelstrom of contemporary art and restless characters, of which my sensors only rescued two basic experiences: the great works of Julio Le Parc and my meeting with Marta Minujín, one of the most prominent and prolific Argentinian plastic artists.
Once called the Lady Gaga of local art, the multifaceted artist was one of the promoters of the visual art movement Pop Art, and several of her impressive works made history, as the sculptures of ephemeral art, happenings, performances and multisensorial environments of participatory art.

Textures, Mondrian pattern & bold ethnic bijoux

Albino hair cut straight and sunglasses as permanent makeup are the strong signature style of this eccentric queen of pop art, amusing and unique even to dress. With her peculiar style -ineffable mixture of overalls and Warholian, avant-garde clothing with kitsch extras, profuse decorative pieces and jewelry of various (and sometimes unexpected) source-, Minujín reaffirms that vocation to join every aspect of her life to the artistic sense.

AMERICAN PALAZZO

The Breakers Palm Beach Resort in Florida, USA is one of America's historic grand hotels. Built in 1896 by Henry Flagler, the luxury Atlantic oceanfront hotel is one of the few still under the same family's ownership, the descendants of the founder. The sumptuous structure we see today was created in the Italian Renaissance-style, inspired by the splendid Italian villas of yesteryear.
Staying true to the resort’s heritage, its fascinating works of art and architecture offer a nostalgic glimpse into the past, in the grandiose scale corresponding to a palace iconic of the old American glam. But a visit there does not resemble a trip back in time tunnel, it rather invites you to calmly enjoy its elegant, timeless surroundings and modern comfort.
If you ever are lucky enough to escape to this magical destination of 140 acres, beyond the spa, golf, etc., the must do experience here -especially for lovers of water activities- is The Breakers Reef, which features scuba, kayak tours to coral reefs, deep-see fishing, and private charters.

Despite the relaxation that defines most of the summer resorts, there is a tacit criterion for the summer party dress. The right choice has fun, high-spirited colors, a bold or eye-catching print, and it's nothing structured. With its original abstract print -one you won't see coming and going-, this billowy dress exudes joie de vivre, without detracting elegance and femininity. Plus, topped with a fancy headband, it's picture-perfect!
The dress is from Matthew Williamson, Lanvin slingbacks, and Oliver Peoples sunnies.

Grand Finale

WHAT MET BALL? JAVIER LUNA FASHION NIGHT!

The annual MET Ball and the Schiaparelli and Prada's Impossible Conversations exhibition in NYC or JAVIER LUNA FASHION NIGHT in Buenos Aires? What a dilemma! But, given the small inconvenience of long distance to make it to both events of dazzling glamour in time, I decided to attend the more possible dialogue of the famous patriotic coiffeur with the crème of the national design.
Plus, the hairstylist's celebration was important, too: his 10 years in fashion well deserved a mega-show in Bahia Grande Nordelta, Tigre. It must be impressive, with an atmosphere almost Louis XV, a proposal reminiscent of  international fashion shows, top presentations, and a star-ridden audience, thus the JAVIER LUNA FASHION NIGHT brought his splurge of glamour a few meters of the Luján river.
Along a runway, at times crossed by angels à la Victoria's Secret, paraded the latest collections of designers Benito Fernandez, Laurence Adot, Natalia Antolin and Verónica de la Canal, on the body of some of the most beautiful women in Argentina as Karina Jelinek, Carola Kirby, Paula Morales and Lara Bernasconi.
Among a crowd of about 400 people and local celebrities in front row, was the mayor of the municipality of Tigre Sergio Massa, also called for a solidarity goal, as the show was in full benefit of the Center for Child Nutrition of Nordelta Foundation and Juana Manso Center.

ULTRA HOTEL + COLOR BLOCKING

Another entry to display that weakness of mine for hotels, for those that convey me a special vibe. Perhaps explained by my long stints abroad, when I always found in a couple of hotels the atmosphere able of turning them into my ideal territory. Feeling that still lingers in my country, as several interviews that I do in my role as a journalist, occur in one of these pleasant surroundings. Yet the circumstances here were others: a fashion event with my friends Nick and Miriam, owners of one of the most beautiful and sought-after boutique hotels in Buenos Aires city, followed by the right occasion to present it in NUAR. Located in the neighborhood of Palermo Viejo, come to know the Ultra Hotel, unique in the world conceived and designed by a cool hunter.

Regarding the color blocking -trend that is to associate an average of three strong colors in the same outfit-, the infallible contrast has certain rules that exceed instinct and good taste. So, I share the key a friend stylist gave me, taken from one of his art classes: the color wheel. This circle used by artists and designers shows how to create each shade based on the three primary colors: red, blue and yellow, and also allows to find combinable hues with the use of an equilateral triangle. If you make a clever scheme with two tones of the three vertices, plus another outside of your triangle, the result translated into individual pieces of an outfit is sure to be intensely personal and elegant. In this set, the bright orange Breeders clutch looks great against the golden olive of the DVF blouse and the cobalt blue of the Rag & Bone pants, thus composing a happy trifecta of hues.
The sandals are from Casadei.
